Rhipsalis cruciformis is a rare, epiphytic cactus native to the tropical rainforests of South America. Unlike desert cacti, it naturally grows attached to tree branches, where it enjoys warm temperatures, bright filtered light, and high humidity.

Some of its standout features include:

• 🌿 Long, flattened stems with a distinctive cross-shaped (cruciform) appearance, which inspired its name.
• 🌸 Small white to cream-colored flowers that appear along the stems.
• 🍇 Tiny white, translucent berries that often follow the flowers.
• 🪴 A cascading growth habit, making it an excellent hanging basket plant.

Care Tips

• Light: Bright, indirect light. Avoid harsh afternoon sun.
• Water: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Don’t let it stay soggy.
• Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity.
• Soil: Use a well-draining cactus or orchid-style mix.
• Temperature: Best between 18–30°C (65–86°F). Protect from temperatures below 10°C (50°F).

Rhipsalis cruciformis is prized by collectors because of its unusual stem shape and elegant trailing habit. With proper care, it can grow several feet long and become a stunning specimen in a hanging planter.
