Hoya coriacea 'Silver' thrives in bright, indirect light and a well-draining, airy soil mix, and should be watered sparingly. It is a relatively resilient plant that tolerates some neglect, making it suitable for a wide range of houseplant owners.
- Light: Provide bright, indirect light to enhance its silver coloring. Avoid harsh, blazing midday sun, which can burn the leaves. A few hours of morning or late afternoon sun is generally fine.
- Watering: Allow the top few inches (1-2 inches or 3-4 cm) of the substrate to dry out well between waterings. Hoya plants are semi-succulent and store water in their leaves, so they are drought-tolerant and prone to root rot if overwatered. Water even more sparingly during the winter months.
- Soil: Use a breathable, well-draining mix. A good substrate will contain lots of organic matter like coco coir or coco husk chips, combined with perlite, vermiculite, or orchid bark to ensure quick drainage and good air circulation.
- Temperature: The optimal temperature range is between 18°C and 30°C (64°F–86°F). Avoid exposing the plant to temperatures below 15°C (59°F) or cold drafts from A/C vents.
- Humidity: While the plant is tolerant, it prefers a humidity level above 60%. Higher humidity can promote growth and flowering, but ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal issues. Misting is generally discouraged as it can leave water on the leaves and foster fungal growth.
- Fertilizer: Feed monthly during the active growing season (spring and summer) using a balanced, low-nitrogen liquid fertilizer at half strength. Avoid fertilizing in the winter.
- Pruning & Support: The plant has a vining growth pattern and can be allowed to hang freely or trained to climb a trellis. Prune occasionally to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth.
- Toxicity: According to multiple sources, Hoya plants are considered non-toxic to both humans and pets.
Return Policy: Our commitment is to provide the finest plants, but we understand that damage can occur. In such cases, refunds are not available, yet we collaborate with customers on replacements or store credits for subsequent purchases, requiring the return of damaged goods.
