Hoya sp. Vietnam AH-001, an attractive houseplant known for its speckled or "splashed" leaves and fragrant, star-shaped flowers. 

  • Appearance: Its foliage is thick and fleshy, often oval or elongated with a shimmery, marbled pattern caused by reflective air pockets within the leaves. The "splash" can appear as silver or pink flecks.
  • Flowers: The plant produces clusters of small, star-shaped flowers that are typically fragrant and bloom in the spring and summer.
  • Origin: This species is native to Vietnam, where it grows as an epiphyte (a plant that grows on another plant but is not parasitic) in tropical rainforests.
  • Light: It thrives in bright, indirect light, which helps to enhance the "splash" effect on its leaves.
  • Watering: As a Hoya, it prefers to have its soil dry out slightly between waterings, as it is susceptible to root rot if the soil remains soggy.
  • Soil: A well-draining soil mix is recommended, such as one containing coco coir and perlite.
  • Toxicity: This Hoya species is considered non-toxic, making it a safe choice for homes with pets and children.
